Good morning everyone! Just wanted to update you all. So Johnson and I survived our families weekend with the flu! YUCK! So I slept all of Saturday and Sunday and the girls came back home from Grandma's around 5:00 PM. At 2:00 AM, I get a tap on my shoulder from my littlest one Taylor. "Mommy... I feel sick." So it was to be, that Taylor and mom stayed up all night with her being sick now. The LORD provides in many ways... at least He gave me 2 solid days of sleep, so I was prepared and awake to take care of Taylor. Poor little thing! I kept her home from school on Monday and Tuesday until it completely passed.
WOW... last night I went onto my website, and saw that someone had made a donation on our behalf to the CDA. WOW... Thank you to Jeff Newman who donated $500.00 towards our fundraising campaign! I am humbled that people whom I don't even know, would be so compassionate and donate such a significant amount of money. THANK YOU so very much!
Oh... the picture you see today is a photo we took when a fellow Team Diabetes person (Peter McDougall) from the East Coast, whom Johnson and I never met in person, just through this experience via e-mails, came up to Ottawa to visit family and popped by our house to meet in person! I thought he'd be much taller in person! HA HA!! Thought you'd enjoy that one Peter!
What else is new? Well, when Johnson and I spoke at the Victory dinner in Hawaii for The Canadian Diabetes Association, in our speeches we thanked many people and organizations. One organization we thanked was Baxter. Baxter has a contract with the Ottawa Hospitals and provides for them much dialysis equipment and supplies. Baxter was so instrumental to us and had such and effect on our lives. They were amazing delivering supplies to our house every two weeks, and were amazing in ensuring that our 620 lbs of dialysis supplies made it to Hawaii without complication! Without them we would not have been able to run for diabetes! They simply are a huge reason that Johnson is alive today! So of course we thanked Baxter in our speeches. After our speeches we were approached by many people... those who wanted to shake our hands and congratulate us... those who wanted to offer us words of support... those who thanked us for being an inspiration to themselves... those whom offered us encouraging words of inspiration... those who said "Don't be nervous... I was a kidney donor too!", etc. The line up to meet with us was quite long, but one woman waited to meet with us. Her name was Heather Forster, and she introduced herself and told us she worked for Baxter! Amazing the people you meet. She said thanks to us for mentioning Baxter and for mentioning all the good that Baxter does for people. Well, we've been in touch with Heather, and were recently asked to be guest speakers at Baxter’s 50th Anniversary Picnic party for their manufacturing plant. Of course we were honored and humbled to have been asked, and it is with great pleasure that we have accepted! So on June 23rd, our whole family will be off to Alliston, ON to enjoy the days events!
Well... I think I've said enough for now... Johnson is at the hospital as I write... this is the first appointment I've missed as I'm so tired... I need to get some sleep today before this long 4 day weekend with the kids! Whoo Hoo! Cheers everyone!
