Ok... so update on our faboulous weekend... It was nice to go and visit my sister in law with the children, and the girls were really excited to go and have a sleep over. I prepared my delicious chicken supreme... all I'm going to say is that it is NOT a low fat dinner! In the middle of the night, I started to cramp real bad. I ended up on the throne for the next two hours, buckeled over in pain! I had one percocet left and took it and prayed for the pain to go away. I slept maybe for 2 hours. The next day I took it real easy, as my cramps had not gone away completely. Poor Johnson was also at home suffering from the same dibilating stomach cramps. He didn't go anywhere, or do anything except stay in bed. Now those of you who have been reading our blogs, know that we have both had these bad cramps since our bout with the flu the week before Easter. They still have not gone away, and even Johnson went to Emergency because of them on Easter Sunday.
Last night, I could not take it any longer, so off the kids went to my brother John's house... "Thank You Brother John" and off Johnson and I went to the Queensway Carleton Hospital. Man... that's the nicest hospital I've seen in a long time. I was in to see a doctor within an hour, morphine was administered right away along with gravol and an IV was started to try and re-hydrate me. In the next 1/2 hour, a CT scan was done to see if there was any internal bleeding, and bloodwork was also taken.
After morphine, gravol, buscopan, and percocet I was sent home to convalese. I am to take a stool sample back with me today if I can... stage fright I guess, or maybe it's all out of my system as I was on the toilet for 3 straight days. The doctor was great... he suspects it is:
Clostridium difficile, commonly called C. difficile, is a bacterium that causes diarrhea and other serious intestinal conditions. It is the most common cause of infectious diarrhea in hospitalized patients in the industrialized world.
Basically it's too much bad bateria in the stomach and colon. So I'm on a good drug regimine, and sent Johnson out to buy me some pro-biotic yogurt to help build up the good bacteria. I will be interested to see if this is indeed what Johnson and I have been fighting this past month, and should I come up positive, Johnson will also take the necessary tests.
Man... the weather has been amazing here in Ottawa, and I sure wish we were out enjoying it. Our poor girls... Mommy can we go to the park? Mommy can we go swimming... Mommy can we go out? Poor things have been taking real good care of the two of us. Today they have been kept home from school, as they were up real late waiting for us to come home, so I thought it best for us all to just sleep right in and rest.
So please say a little prayer for Johnson and I to get well again real soon. We are so looking forward to being our old selves again.
Cheers everyone! We will chat soon!
