Well we have so much on our plates today that I'm already exhausted thinking about it. It's 5:55AM and here I am typing? Yesterday I had my appointment with my Nephrologist, who did some blood work on me and asked me a million questions. He was really nice and was easy to talk with. So it's official and not just in my head. I am anemic, with a low blood cell count, which explains my constant exhaustion. He feels I must have lost some blood during the surgery and has ordered me to start with iron every night for the next two months. Cool.
Today is STENT REMOVAL day. What is that you say? Well, during Johnson's transplant they put a tiny mesh tube that looks like a small spring to help attach his new kidney to his bladder. Well, today they remove it, so at 8:15AM this morning, please say a prayer for him! He will need freezing in his penis, and then they will go up his penis, grab the stent and remove it. This has been FREAKING Johnson out since before the transplant. The good thing about it... because he has had this stent, he has felt the need for frequent urination, cause the stent opens up valves that normally are closed. So at least that's one good thing about it... he won't have to pee as much. It is suppose to be a very fast procedure, but who knows?
After this stent removal, we go to the lab for more bloodwork, then up to clinic for our regular visit. All in all we should be back home hopefully by noon, which I can't wait for, cause sleep glorious sleep beckons me! Yesterday all I did was get the girls dressed in the morning for school, packed up their backpacks, then called our caregiver and asked that she take the girls to school. Then I went back to bed and slept until 1:00PM, got up took my shower, and went to the hospital for my apppointment. Then it was straight back home and rest for me again. I can't wait for the iron to kick in, in the next week or so! Whoo Hoo!
Well, chow everyone! Sorry there won't be any pictures from today's procedure! HA HA!!!
